Baby, I’m bringing back fun or I, very officially, launch The Fun Project

There are some great things about being an adult. You can eat hot fudge sundaes for dinner if you want; you can have parties for your friends on week nights (not that anyone does, but you could); if you want to watch a “Mad Men” marathon and then spend the next three days of your life searching every store in San Francisco for Joan’s necklace, you can (H and M has them, by the way).

And there are also some things that suck. Tutus are not seen as appropriate office wear (lame); rarely do people ask you what you want to be when you grow up; you don’t get to have “reading parties.” (What?!  You’re honestly telling me you didn’t invite your friends over to read? That you wouldn’t have a gal or two drop in so you could all sit around in complete silence for hours on end, reading side-by-side, occasionally enjoying a Butterscotch hard candy while mildly chuckling at the antics of Anne of Green Gables?  I’m sorry, but that’s just weird.)

Today, dear readers, I propose bringing these two worlds together. Because I’m ready to start having fun. Real fun. A lot of fun. The kind of ridiculous fun that makes you tear up and hold your sides.  Fun that takes your breath away and stops you in your tracks, forcing you to look at the world around you.  Fun that reminds you there is more to life than errands, emails and a never-ending to do list.

So here’s the plan. I’m going to do one fun thing a day for a year and then tell you about it.  This is going to be FUN CENTRAL, I tell you. And, I have to admit, I’m really nervous about this because 1.) a year is a long time and my blogging track record is spotty and 2.) what if I can’t find fun stuff to do? And then I tell myself to get a grip.

Obviously, I’m not sure how this is all going to look or what the “fun things” actually are; I’ve decided, in the spirit of enjoying the moment, to roll with it and see what happens. I have no doubt that there will be changes as we go and Big Lessons Learned, but, frankly, I’ve been sitting on this for weeks now, waiting for the “perfect” day (preferably a Monday) to launch it and it hasn’t showed up so I’m just going for it. I’m going to stop planning the launch and perfecting my Web site and get off my duff and do something fun.

I’ll report back tomorrow on how it goes.

So… I already loved Crystal.. but I love her extras now because she helped me find your blog!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this concept. :) I was thinking the other day, that when I was little i didn’t care who took my picture, or what silly look I had on my face. Now, there are rarely pics of me (my facebook picture is from MAY!) because I am self concsious about it. How SILLY!!! I am who I am, I should be happy with it. :) Such a long message all to say… I’m reading! lol
